“ Mario succeeded again at providing a fabulous meal for our party of 12 seated around the cozy fire ring table enjoying some great wine and food, not to mention the great service. I highly recommend the stuffed zucchini flowers. Bib goumand Michelin recognition is not easy to obtain, but they did it with flying colors. Bravo!! ”
“ We went to ciccia osteria for a birthday dinner and we had a really lovely time. The food was great. I would highly recommend and look forward to returning. ”
“ Absolutely fabulous! Wonderful for a group! The Fruitta de Mare was wonderful. We shared a fabulous bottle of red Cafei Frati that went perfectly with our meals ”
“ Alright, so my wife has been hyping up Ciccia Osteria ever since she went with her friends. She kept saying, "Babe, you HAVE to try this place," so naturally, I gave in--because, you know, happy wife, happy life. We packed up the kids and headed to Barrio Logan, where we immediately discovered the first challenge: parking. I'm pretty sure finding a spot there requires a secret handshake or an ancient treasure map, but after a few laps around the block and some deep breathing exercises, we made it inside. Now, let's talk about the food. We got the Valentine's special 3-course meal, and from the first bite of that polenta crouton with horseradish, mushrooms, and shrimp, I knew my wife was right (as usual). Then came the Colorado lamb--a big, juicy, melt-in-your-mouth chunk of meat with lemon olive oil sauce, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I swear, if I wasn't in public, I would've picked up the bone and gnawed on it like a caveman. The kids devoured their bambini spaghetti with Bolognese, which was a relief because normally, they inspect their food like it's a science experiment. Oh, and THE BREAD. Soft, warm, and paired with a creamy olive oil dipping sauce that should honestly be bottled and sold on the black market. By the end of the meal, we were stuffed but happy, and just when I thought I couldn't eat another bite, the limoncello showed up, and well... when in Rome, right? The owner personally greeted us, which made the experience even better. Parking may be a nightmare, but if you're willing to endure the struggle, Ciccia Osteria will reward you with some of the best Italian food in San Diego. 10/10, would do battle with Barrio Logan parking again for this meal. ”
“ Another Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant crossed off my bucket list. I came with friends around New Years and we ordered the squash blossoms, crab gnocchi, wellington, rabbit ravioli, and saffron shrimp risotto. I believe the only item that is on the regular menu is the gnocchi; everything else was a holiday special. I did not get to taste everyone's dishes, but here are my thoughts. Pros: - Homey ambiance with a lot of warmth. Service is very attentive and friendly. - I enjoyed the fried squash blossoms and the milky, smooth ricotta that they are stuffed with. I think Ciccia Osteria has the best ricotta I've eaten in recent memory--sometimes it can be kind of grainy and off-putting texture-wise. The complimentary focaccia also comes with whipped ricotta, EVOO, and balsamic. I like how it adds another level of richness. - My partner enjoyed his beef Wellington--it had a nice, flaky crust with tender beef inside. I don't think there was prosciutto wrapped around the beef, though, which would have been a nice touch. - Everything is well-plated and portions are decent, too. Just ok: - I don't have any cons; just some "just okays." - The dining room is pretty much no different from dining on the patio. It was a bit chilly that night and I think it impacted how fast our food cooled. I am a fan of having my food piping hot and everything was a little lukewarm for my taste. - The gnocchi was fine but I prefer gnocchi when it is more springy and chewy than floury and tender. The food was good but I wasn't totally blown away. I am willing to come back and give their more popular pasta dishes another try. ”
“ Service is top notch here and the cute patio is a plus, it really made me feel like I was in a cool Italian piazza. The highlights of our meal were the mushroom flan, squash blossoms, crab gnocchi and twin pasta with pink sauce. The pastas my group tried were on the specials menu for the night. I had the carbonara but was pretty disappointed by it, it said it was spaghetti on the menu but it turned out to be angel hair with way too much bland sauce and the pasta was on the chewy side and not so much al dente. Other than that, the majority of items our table ordered were 5/5! So all in all a great place ”
“ This place is AMAZING!!! Great staff. Chef is friendly and very helpful with suggestions and food pairings. The ambiance is cozy, makes me feel like Im back in Italy eating a great meal. Their Veil Milanese is soooooo good especially paired with truffle mushrooms. Keep up the great job!!! ”
“ My updated review is that this place is still good! (And I wanted to add more photos of their yummy goodness!) I think they may be my favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego! All their dishes are so well-made. Vibes are on point. Service was great. The star: the mushroom flan is to die for!! ”
“ great food in the classic Logan neigboorhood... This area has gone through some recent uplifts and establishments like this one are the keys to that success. Love the homestyle traditional vibe here and the food is 5 star. Must start with the house bread and some mussels.. The bread is accompanied with some oil, vinegar, cheese and pepper that is addicting!! for entrees, we ordered the Sombreri and Ravioli which went down well with a bottle of the house red. Save some room for dessert with orders of both the ricotta cake and tiramisu. ”
“ AMBIANCE Ciccia Osteria, is a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand Italian eatery serving handmade pasta, seafood, and other Italian specialties in a covered patio/courtyard and a rustic interior space. SERVICE Family staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive making patrons feel right at home. DRINK 5/5 Basil Cocktail: vodka forward, crisply carbonated, that has an aromatic touch from a handful of fresh basil FOOD 5/5 Focaccia: this bread is impressively light and comes with a dreamy creamy mascarpone ricotta spiced dip 5/5 Frutti di Mare - an exceptionally fresh and flavorful culmination of seafood spaghetti mussel / clam / shrimp / bass / white wine / light tomato bisque sauce. 4/5 EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA - Tomato Sauce, Fresh Basil, Mozzarella, Parmesan that are all baked nicely, just a tad too tart for me PARKING Street side I am definitely coming back for seconds and with an appetite and my eye on the mushroom flan, tuna tartare, and dessert. ”
